I dislike this movie/book..but something hit me as we watched it in English class today.
Scene:
The warden has guards go into Andy’s cell and screw’s everything up. Basically just trying to look for something. Picking up a book that Andy had, the warden was suprised it was the Holy bible. He asks Andy what his favorite passage was. Mark 13:15 was his favorite passage I think. The warden agree’s that is a good passage, but his favorite passage was John 8:12 — When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — and then he walks out.
Who would of known this would be found in a Steven King story, though it was made into a film, still. So anyways, John 8:12. Lately, more of over the past few months, the word Light has been big in my life I guess. We can be the light and Jesus IS the light. How can we hide and run away from him? How can we walk a faithful and “God-like” life if we can’t shine or follow His light? It’s been emphasized at church and even in my Christian club. So why not follow?
He is the light and we follow because He shows us the way. When we find our way in Him, we will shine. We have the power that Jesus had when he walked the earth. Luke 11:9-10 — “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Taking risks and asking for something won’t ever hurt when it comes to God. It’ll just allow you to live more of a “God-like” life. Ya dig?
